There could be two such meanings with regards to databases. A boolean type field is one which can only have one of two values. (The method by which the two values are signified isn't important, as long as it's consistent - usual methods are T/F, Y/N and the like.) A boolean expression is one that evaluates to either a true or false value and is typically used in WHERE and HAVING clauses as well as CASE structures. (For example "WHERE termination_date IS NULL" in a query against an employee database would only select those rows where the expression is true, i.e., the employee does not have a termination date, indicating they are active employees.)

What are database field names and data types?

Database field names are the column headers that define the type of information stored in that column. Common data types include VARCHAR (variable-length character strings), INT (integer), DATE (date values), and BOOLEAN (true/false values).

That would depend in part on the database management software, as it is not consistent amongst them. However, all I'm aware of will have integer, number/decimal, text and date types at a minimum. Others I've seen in various DBMS include currency, memo and Boolean.
